Christmas Card Time!

Can you believe it is going to be October tomorrow? Somehow from the first day of school until Christmas Day seems like two weeks (and two years at the same time!). I am ordering my first set of 2011 Christmas cards for a client today. Someone is way ahead of the game. I am feeling a little jealous, as I don't even have a pictures for my family yet!

Do you rely of the holiday season to be your catalyst for having family pictures taken? Don't let the year pass without documenting your family. You can never go back!

{I} One Year Old

I can't believe this little guy is one already. It seems like he was just born (because I am not the one getting up to feed him in the middle of the night!). He was so cute about wanting to hold something for the whole shoot. A stick, or a long blade of grass. What a cute boy! We had so much fun hanging out and letting him explore the park. He is such a fun kid and Maren can't wait until she can babysit him!

This is one of the first families we met when we moved to California almost four years ago. Jenny is the best, always smiling and helpful. We have been trying to coordinate this photo shoot for a long time. She really wanted to do it as soon as her little guy lost both of his front teeth. One was out and Jenny worked hard to get the other one out before the new ones started to grow in. He lost that tooth on Wednesday and we braved some cloudy, windy, cold conditions to get this done. I love, love the toothless grin.

I had a ton of fun on Friday with this family of seven. Aren't they adorable?

With five children, we had a tough time getting everyone on the same page at the same time, and mom was worried that we wouldn't get anything good. They were all troopers and I love how they turned out! All of those beautiful eyes.

Summer is supposed to be for lazy days in the sun. Instead I have spent my whole summer packing, unpacking, ripping out a kitchen, putting together a new kitchen (not quite there yet), painting and living without a sink. I haven't had a whole lot of time to laze about and take pictures.

In 1985 when my family moved to California, we moved in next to Shannon and her family. We had so much fun hanging out for several years and then lost contact. When Shannon contacted me to take some casual family shots I was super excited. Isn't her family just darling?

I had so much fun catching up and meeting the family!

Can you believe this beautiful hair. Baby {A} was a dream. What a well mannered child. She stayed awake just long enough for some awake shots and then we got her all sleepy and she stayed that way for the rest of the shoot. Can't believe how much she looks like her big sister. I took this family's photographs in the fall before she arrived and I can't wait to update the family shots when baby {A} gets a little bigger!

I love recital time. This year between the three girls we had seven backstage costume changes. The girls just ate it up. Aren't these adorable costumes?

It was so fun to see these grandparents with all of their grandchildren. I love doing things like this. Family photographs are such treasures.

Sometimes not all involved are willing, but that can be part of the memory. I don't think my parents have a photograph of all of their grandchildren. Maybe I better get on that! Maybe I will wait until my new nephew and niece are born later this year. Then, it is on.

I had so much fun last week with Baby {E}. She started out strong, albeit awake, but adorable. She fought us for a while, but we finally got her out, and it lasted about 5 minutes.

Look at all this dark hair. I always wished I would have a baby with lots of dark hair.

I love this one down here at the bottom. She looks like a three month old, not one less than two weeks. Oh, the cheeks.

How about this for small world. Baby's mommy is the little sister to a dear friend from college that I lost touch with. Took me a bit to figure it out, but so much fun when I put it all together. Good luck on the move guys!

Is your brain done with the Christmas holidays and is ready to move on to Valentine's Day like mine?

Book a mini session between now and Feb 2nd and receive a 20 minute mini session and one image of your choice. Prints can also be ordered (please see my pricing for details) if you choose.

Photo sessions will be held in the San Ramon/Danville area.

Next Saturday would be a good day if the rain is gone by then.

Have some adorable boys? We can steer clear of the *ahem* affectionate wording, or just go without the Valentine banner altogether. I am working up a more boy friendly card as we speak.

If you want, you can take your image in a predesigned card. Than you can email it to all your friends.

And post it on your blog.

Or you could take it to your local printshop and make color copies.

And have them to hand out to all your friends at school. Just put a little sweet treat with it and you are ready for Valentine's Day.

Need images for each of your school aged children? Just an extra $10 per child gets you an image for those brilliant homemade cards (you clever crafty gal), or to take to the print shop at the last minute (you know who you are!).

I love how these turned out. Their colors are beautiful. Love how the purple pops. Not sure little guy was in love with the idea of wearing the purple shirt, but he was adorable none the less!

Look at all of those adorable blue eyed blonde kids. I had fun last Saturday joking with this funny family. I really got to know this family over the long swim team summer, and love all those kids. We had fun keeping the boys entertained. How fast can you run to that fence and back?

I love how these turned out. I love the red. Maybe just maybe I can start to get in the Christmas spirit with these. Six weeks until Christmas. Have you thought about Christmas cards yet?

This little darling is number 5 in his family.

All the other siblings had their photographs taken when they were about his age, so we tried to match the style of the other portraits as best we could.

He was a little bit of a stinker being that he knows how to crawl and his siblings were just a bit younger (and not crawling!) when they had theirs done.

Life is exciting when you take pictures of a 5 year old, his 2 year old little brother and 6 month old baby sister. You have a lot of moments that look like this.

But if you are patient enough (and have one loving, hard working grandma on the shoot with you) you can capture all of this adorableness.

I just love the colors they were wearing. Please people, let's wear some fall colors. Aren't these so cute?

Seriously, are you dying over this one's cheeks?

I knew that if we were patient enough we could get some darling ones of little brother, and I think his ended up being my favorites of the whole bunch!

We had to find a *tougher* location for all these boys. I figured that pretty flowers just weren't going to cut it with this crew.

The boys were hilarious and super entertaining, but great sports none the less...

Our long time friends have been on a brutal long time journey of building a dream house on a hillside above the Pacific Ocean. After four years, they finally got to move in a couple of weeks ago. We were lucky enough to be their first house guests. Here's to many many visits with this amazing family and their dream house.
